Adult nurses assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate care supporting the patient's recovery or the ability to live as well as possible with their condition. On this Adult Nursing BN degree, theoretical modules provide you with the knowledge and clinical skills to undertake clinical placements in community and hospital settings, with experiences in a range of adult related areas. Career opportunities exist in areas including A&E, specialist medical and surgical areas, intensive care, palliative care and primary care settings.
The one key word that could be used to describe the role of adult field registered nurses is diversity – registered nurses who hold adult field registration (and additional registerable qualifications, for example prescribing or teaching) care for the needs of people across the lifespan, including safeguarding the health of mother and baby. You’ll be able to experience that diversity during placements in clinical areas where adult nurses practice which might include:
Acute sector general and specialist medical and surgical nursing
Critical care nursing (intensive and high dependency care, emergency department, theatres and recovery)
Community nursing in the home environment and primary care.
Adult Nurses have the opportunity to develop their practice upon qualification. This can lead to careers such as; Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Specialist Nursing, Consultant Nursing, Ward (ITU,CCU and HDU) as well as various Community specialisms, Practice Nursing and Research Nursing. If you have an IELTS of 5.0 (with no component below 4.5), you will be offered a 6-week Pre-sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
If you have an IELTS of 4.5 (with no component below 4.0), you will be offered a 12-week Pre-Sessional English course immediately preceding your entry to the IYZ.
