Course Overview

This innovative program examines the complex interplay between law and politics in international affairs. Delivered jointly by the School of Law and the School of Politics, Philosophy, International Relations and the Environment (SPIRE), the LLM provides students with an opportunity to develop a critical understanding of how politics shape international law and how, in return, the law shapes the behavior of states in their dealings with one another and with other actors. As will all our postgraduate programs, the LLM encourages an integrated theoretical and interdisciplinary approach to global governance, where the law is studied in its broader philosophical, historical and social context. This approach is particularly suited to those who aspire to work for international institutions like the UN, non-governmental organizations, government agencies, or international law firms.

General Eligibility

You should have a first or second class honors degree (or foreign equivalent) in Law or a related discipline. Applications are welcome from current legal practitioners or any other person with appropriate professional qualifications and/or experience.
