Course Overview

Media Studies, Communication, and Design majors will pursue internships with advertising agencies, design firms, publishing houses, software developers, television stations, and websites, as well as marketing and public relations departments across commercial, government, and non-profit organizations. Majors will learn to create professional-quality audio, video, graphics, and text and evaluate media environments, technological innovations, and historical contexts so they can adapt to rapidly changing institutions and industries. Students with a Media Studies, Communications, and Design degree can do various things based on their areas of interest. That’s why we developed this program to be flexible and pair well with other schedules, including Art, Business Administration, English, Fashion Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, History, Medical Humanities, Sociology, Sustainability, and Women’s and Gender Studies. No matter which route you choose, there are a lot of employment opportunities. As part of the program, you will build a professional portfolio and complete an internship to help equip you with the skills needed for professional success.

General Eligibility

Choose from a broad set of courses that foster high-demand skills, including analytics, creativity, emotional IQ, and the ability to design and communicate concise messages. These will pave the way for exciting careers in a variety of fields. A minor in Media Studies, Communications, and Design complement many majors because it gives you the communication and analytical skills businesses seek among employees in all career fields.
