Our distance learning MSc Structural Molecular Biology provides you with a grounding in the structure of proteins, and the main techniques that are used to study protein structure. Structural biology allows you to understand how macromolecules work at the atomic level of detail. This is important, particularly in designing drugs that act at the molecular level to affect macromolecules. Graduates go on to careers in research, science writing, teaching, and academia. The course is particularly suitable for staff already working in the industry as graduates, to enlarge their theoretical background and to complement their practical experience. Possible professions include higher education lecturer, research scientist, or science writer. This degree can also be useful in becoming a secondary school teacher or physical scientist.
A second-class honors degree (2:2) or above in science, computing or mathematics, or equivalent qualification, or relevant work experience.
If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests.
