Course Overview

The MSc and MRes Management differ from the typical MBA in that they cover fewer subjects but in more depth. You will learn more than just the current management fashions and buzzwords: you will also learn about the evidence upon which management theories are based.

All of Birkbeck's management programs develop personal and generic skills that are transferable to a wide range of research, teaching, and work situations, including the skills of self-discipline, reflection, analysis, communication, leadership, and lifelong learning.

Graduates can pursue career paths in management in, for example, local and national government, business, and industry. Possible professions include:

  • chartered management accountant

  • management consultant

  • risk manager

  • systems analyst

  • retail manager

  • logistics and distribution manager.

General Eligibility

Our standard postgraduate entry requirement is a second-class honors degree (2:2 or above) from a UK university or an equivalent international qualification.

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.

Language Requirement

  • If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests.
