LLM/MSc Law and Political Economy at Birkbeck were launched in direct response to the resurgence of interest in political economy. With a focus on law, this timely program studies the links between the economy, crime, and punishment, as well as the relationship between property, trade, law, and regulation. Taught by internationally renowned experts from across the fields of law, business, and politics, LLM/MSc Law and Political Economy give you the opportunity to analyze political economy issues from different disciplinary perspectives and to evaluate complex theories and debates on the topic. You will also receive training in critical research methods, before undertaking a supervised independent research project on a topic of your choice. The program is ideal if you wish to advance your career, or develop a new career path in law and criminal justice in the public, private or non-governmental sector. It also provides a strong foundation for Ph.D. research in the area.
A least a 2:2 honors degree in law, criminology, or a related discipline in the humanities or social sciences.
If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, the requirement for this course is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 7.0, with not less than 6.5 in each of the sub-tests.
