The Bachelor of Engineering Technology (BEngTech) is a three-year nationally standardised engineering degree, offered in New Zealand as a pathway into engineering, construction and related manufacturing industries. Learn from passionate, qualified tutors with diverse and relevant industry experience and form skills using practical learning situations to understand and apply engineering science knowledge.
You will develop the capability to analyse and implement solutions applying their learning in real-life, practical situations, including taking part in a year-long industry project where they gain valuable real-world experience. You can choose to major in Civil or Mechanical engineering.
BEngTech graduates meet an industry need for people who can actively apply engineering knowledge, and integrate that knowledge into high level practical situations. Students achieving this qualification may also move into a higher level of study.
This programme is internationally benchmarked and recognised under the well-respected International Sydney Accord, which opens up opportunities to working both in New Zealand and internationally.
develop core engineering skills in computing, mathematics, management and engineering sciences, plus some discipline topics in your first year of study. This forms the foundation upon which will build your degree. Critical thinking, problem solving, and innovation will be a key part of your success.
continue to deepen your understanding in your chosen major and engage in projects to apply your knowledge in your second and third years. A capstone project is run with close ties to industry, with many projects being sponsored by key industry parties. This offers the chance to test your skills against industry standards in a real-world scenario, while building your professional portfolio and developing important industry contacts. Part time up to 10 years.
