Our MSc Governance, Economics and Public Policy - involving Birkbecks internationally recognized Departments of Management, Politics, Economics, and Geography - address these interests. This interdisciplinary program is designed to give you a more comprehensive knowledge of the complex and dynamic relationships between corporate governance, economics, and public policy, as well as the relationship between organizations in the public, private and third sectors, and their stakeholders. If you work in an area of governance and public policy/politics, or if you wish to develop a career within it, and/or are interested in better understanding and influencing governance and policy, this program is ideal. Birkbeck is one of the few institutions in London to offer a postgraduate qualification in this area. Graduates can pursue careers in the local and national government, business, and industry. Possible professions include management consultant, political adviser, policy maker, political leader or civil servant. This degree can also be useful in becoming a Civil Service fast streamer.
Our standard postgraduate entry requirement is a second-class honors degree (2:2 or above) from a UK university or an equivalent international qualification.
If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests.
