The course aims to provide students with specialized training in rural land and estate management. Specifically, the classes will prepare students for a rural land and property management career and offer professional and technical training. Both academic studies and the vocational nature of the course in preparing students for a particular profession are enhanced by the close links of Harper Adams and the land management course team with industry.
The 4-module PgC program and the 8-module PgD program choose from the same module suite as the Master's courses in Rural Estate and Land Management. The shorter, non-RICS accredited options are typically taken by:
Chartered surveyors who are qualified in a non-rural discipline and want to gain rural expertise
Rural surveyors returning after an extended career break or time working outside the agricultural sector
AssocRICS qualified professionals who are seeking to become chartered surveyors and need further educational credits
On a case-by-case basis, students who do not have the entry requirements for the Master's courses may be offered a place on the Postgraduate Certificate course to transfer to the Master's on successful completion.
A good honors degree (normally 2:1 or equivalent) in any subject. This requirement may be relaxed regarding cognate degrees or for candidates with extensive, relevant professional experience. Other candidates may also be considered for the PgC program. In addition, all candidates will be expected to provide references and may be regarded as by interview and evidence of their relevant experience and motivation for the course.
20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.
