Course Overview

This course is ideal if you are considering a career move into statistics, or if your work already involves aspects of data collection and exploration, the interpretation of statistics, or the modeling and forecasting of time-dependent phenomena.

The course covers both the theory and the application of modern statistical and mathematical modeling techniques to applied problems in industry, public services, commerce, and research. It proceeds from a strong theoretical background, but it is practically oriented to develop your ability to tackle new and non-standard problems confidently. The mutual dependence on practice and theory is emphasized throughout the course.

Graduates can pursue career paths in data collection, research, analysis, modeling, and forecasting. Possible professions include:

statistician

operational researcher

research scientist (maths)

forensic statistician

higher education lecturer.

General Eligibility

A second-class honors degree (2:2) or above, with mathematics or statistics as a main subject.

Part Time Work Details

20 hours of work permit weekly for international students.

Language Requirement

  • If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, the requirement for this program is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests.
