This course focuses on developing your understanding of the theory and practice of designing and manufacturing high performance vehicles. Throughout your studies, you’ll have opportunities to develop your knowledge of vehicle handling, chassis aerodynamics and suspension mechanics, as well as automotive/motorsport computer systems and electronics, the fundamentals of internal combustion science and wider engineering issues. We’ll also support you to gain transferable skills such as project management, team working, IT and formal presentations, and help you develop the intellectual capabilities of research, problem solving, evaluation and synthesis.
96 UCAS points. Your Level 3 subjects must include a mathematics-based subject and a science-based subject; for instance, A-level Mathematics and Physics or BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering. You should also have five GCSEs at grade C or above or grade 4 to 9 (or equivalent) including English, Mathematics and Science. Non-standard and mature student entry: Certificate (HND/C) may be considered for direct entry to HE5 Level given good results in Level 4 Mathematics and Science, Engineering related work experience and interview (essential for those applying with non-standard entry routes qualifications). You may be required to attend an interview and/or provide a portfolio of work.
Apprentices will need to be employed by your organization for a minimum of 30 hours per week. Your organization will also need to commit to sponsoring apprentices to complete this qualification.
If English isn’t your first language, you’ll also need IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band (or equivalent). We also accept a range of other English language qualifications
