Course Overview

Postgraduate studies in civil engineering are ideal if you would like to broaden and deepen your technical knowledge of specialised civil engineering areas and develop a wider perspective and understanding of the issues facing the civil engineering industries. The course is designed for those who have already graduated with a civil engineering or engineering-related degree. As a graduate of this programme you will have the opportunity to develop a range of transferable skills including problem solving, research skills, analysis of complex sets of information, use concepts and theories to make engineering judgments, critical thinking, creativity, communication, team work, commercial awareness and health and safety.

General Eligibility

You should hold at least an Upper Second Class Honours degree (2.1) in Civil Engineering. Applicants with a Lower Second Class Honours degree (2.2) in Civil Engineering will be considered on a case by case basis and evidence of significant relevant learning/work experience following graduation will be expected. Applicants with other qualifications equivalent to the above that are deemed acceptable to the University will be considered. We'll also consider applications where appropriate work experience can be demonstrated in lieu of, or in addition to, the published academic qualifications in line with the University’s Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL) procedures. You may be required to attend an interview and/or provide a portfolio of work.

Part Time Work Details

Apprentices will need to be employed by your organization for a minimum of 30 hours per week. Your organization will also need to commit to sponsoring apprentices to complete this qualification.

Language Requirement

  • If English isn’t your first language, you’ll also need IELTS 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in any band (or equivalent). We also accept a range of other English language qualifications
