Course Overview

The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is a teaching qualification that has a teaching/training practice requirement. It is designed to provide full and part-time teachers already employed within the sector, a route to becoming qualified teachers, or those wishing to work as teachers/trainers in England. This course is ideal for practitioners who wish to develop skills in assessing, preparing materials, and supporting students. It aims to enhance existing knowledge and provides a sound introduction to new practices and theories relating to Further and Higher Education. It gives the opportunity to gain a nationally recognized qualification with the aim of working towards Qualified Teacher Learning & Skills (QTLS) status within the Post 14-year-old students. The two-year program, accredited by City and Guilds (C&G) is delivered at Loughborough College, which offers access to excellent facilities and resources to support and facilitate the study of the course.

General Eligibility

Level 3 qualification in taught subject specialism and level 2 in English and maths. You will need to attend an interview session. This will be carried out virtually where access to the college campus is not feasible. You must also meet some non-academic requirements, including having a subject specialist mentor, a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, and a declaration of criminal convictions. You need to be able to prove that you have a minimum of 100 contracted teaching hours over the two years.
