You will be taught by lecturers who are internationally recognized researchers in fields such as leadership communication, marketing, economic development, multi-national enterprises, forensic linguistics, language and gender, and TESOL. With a professional placement year as one of its key features, the program is geared towards increasing your employability by providing you with the knowledge and skills required of professionals working in the public, private and voluntary sectors. The placement year is compulsory for this course. It takes place during your third year at Aston and is worth 10 percent of the final degree result. You can choose to spend the year on a work placement in the UK or, if you choose to go abroad, there are both work and study placements available. In recent years, Aston students have undertaken placements with a range of employers including Airbus, Friends of the Earth, Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, and Warburtons, with others going overseas to undertake placements in countries including Japan, Spain, and Germany.
