This module offers you the opportunity to develop your knowledge and understanding of anxiety and sleep disorders. It provides a flexible route if you wish to expand your knowledge and skills by studying one or more modules whilst also managing your working commitments. It also offers a taster of studying at this level without committing to a whole program. You will study the etiology, presentation, diagnosis, and treatment of anxiety and sleep disorders. The module provides an understanding of the function of sleep in maintaining the well-being of the individual and the role of pharmacological as well as non-pharmacological interventions in the management of anxiety and insomnia. It also addresses the problems associated with chronic benzodiazepine and hypnotic use.
Applicants must possess a good honors degree (minimum lower 2nd class) from a recognized university in Pharmacy, Medicine or Nursing or an equivalent qualification as agreed with the Programme Director, or be a Pharmacy Technician registered with the GPhC and currently working in mental health services with substantial experience (at least 3 years) of mental health.
