Oils and Acrylics – Saturday Workshop

... United Kingdom
... Arts University Bournemouth

Course Overview

With an abstract and expressive approach, students will begin with a series of warm-up sketching exercises using mixed media before moving on to acrylic paint. Students will then move on to oils and canvas using ideas previously explored, with an abstract approach taking inspiration from the likes of Rothko and Kandinsky, experimenting with pallet knives, sponges and sticks. Your tutor, Sarah L. Goy, is a practising and exhibiting artist, involved with community art in addition to running her own unique workshops. She will encourage students to explore the materials and their own creative expression during the day. As well as exploring the environment in their work, students will have a dressed model for half a day which will provide the opportunity to capture the figure and form in their work with inspiration from the likes of Paul Klee and Matisse and their use of colour combinations to express emotions.
