This 1-day workshop will give you the basics of silver jewelry making as well as an introduction to the tools involved in this fascinating craft. You will get hands-on experience of Delft Sand clay casting in the making of your pendant and will be taught through practical demonstrations, group, and individual tuition. Casting is a very exciting technique with endless possibilities and is a great way to cast pieces with very little cost and little equipment. Your tutor, Yvette Cannon, is a trained and experienced silversmith who has run her own business and continues to supply galleries, shops, and private clients. Students will be guided through the basic principles of preparing the item and the mold, melting of the silver, use of a soldering torch, cleaning and polishing the finished piece, and by the end of the course you will be able to wear your own made pendant.
The course is suitable for those new to jewelry making as well as people who have already completed a beginner's silversmithing course, as this will be a useful add-on skill.
