Students will examine and explore approaches methods for generating ideas, how to develop characters and how to set the scene using the five senses. You will understand how to let your characters speak for themselves and how dialogue can reveal character and move the story along. Students will examine ways in which to form structure, plot, point of view, and tense. Supported also, by examining different types of creative writing and how and where to submit work for possible publication. Supported with discussions, individual and group exercises in class, you will be encouraged to write at home and to share your work with the group to gain feedback should you wish. (Its not compulsory!)
There are no academic requirements. This course focuses far more on creativity than academia. (You wont be judged or marked!) However, the course is perhaps not best suited for anyone with only a basic level of the English language.
