Course Overview

Our BA (Hons) Digital Arts degree is at the forefront of innovative visual practice, leading the way in thinking through the creative and conceptual possibilities of working with moving images and hybrid creative digital practices. Based at UCA Farnham, this course sits alongside Fine Art and Photography and as it is influenced by a range of global contemporary perspectives, will appeal to home and international learners alike. In this course, you will have the opportunity of building a broad range of moving image and digital skills while being encouraged to push the limits of technology to develop innovative ideas fit for the industry. There are thematic core units that include critically informed research-led lectures, a range of practical workshops, and introductory critical and creative tasks. Throughout, you’ll be encouraged to collaborate, socialize and share ideas within your learning community and develop your independent creative practice. Because this course sits within an interdisciplinary program of courses you’ll also benefit from across-course collaborations and learning opportunities that offer you an enhanced learning journey. You will have the opportunity of undertaking elective units in photography and/or specialist Fine Art practices alongside your core Digital Arts units. There’s also a strong focus on employability that runs across the curriculum, and we’ll support you to identify potential career trajectories and prepare you for your working life. You have the option to complete a Professional Practice Year as part of this course. This will allow you to develop your professional, academic and personal potential, equipping you to be confident and engaged in creative workplaces. Employers widely recognize these qualities, and a significant proportion of placement students are offered graduate-level jobs or go on postgraduate study.
